All the Devolver Direct Announcement and Volvy’s birthday

The week of No-E3 doesn’t give us a break, and right after the Summer Game Fest, indie game fans stayed tuned to watch a new Devolver Direct and celebrate Volvy’s 15th birthday. With the characteristic style of the North American independent publisher, the presentation unfolded through a well-crafted video featuring a quirky character preparing the celebration for Volvy’s quinceañera, interrupted by the announcements of the games. The showcase becomes increasingly disturbing as the footage progresses. I highly recommend watching it in full, but if you’re only interested in the game announcements, here’s a summary.

Cult of the Lamb: The Unholy Alliance

The already classic game from the indie studio Massive Monsters, which combines survival, roguelike, base-building, exploration, and adventure with beautiful hand-drawn graphics, will receive one of the most anticipated features by its fans: cooperative multiplayer. Starting on August 12, you’ll be able to play with a partner locally. Additionally, new content and some secrets will be added. Best of all, the update will be free.

The Crush House

This curious concept puts you in the shoes of a reality show producer. Your role involves managing the casting of contestants who will be the stars of the program, as well as handling the recording and editing. Your goal is to keep the audience engaged and secure as many sponsors as possible to prevent the show from being canceled. Every season introduces new contestants, each with their own personality, ensuring a unique mix of conflicts, romances, and interests. Try to keep the show on air as long as possible. The show begins on August 9, so stay tuned to its Steam page for updates.

Tenjutsu

The trailer starts with an animation worthy of the best anime studios, accompanied by synthwave that merges elements of traditional Japanese music with a hard rock foundation, exuding a futuristic Blade Runner-esque aesthetic. Tenjutsu has all the ingredients to become an instant classic. Memorable introductions, excellent music, fast-paced gameplay with roguelike mechanics, and a big name behind it; Sébastien Benard, the developer and designer of Dead Cells, is helming this new project. While it’s clear that certain aspects of his previous work are present here, there are notable differences, such as the top-down perspective reminiscent of Hotline Miami. Watching the trailer will surely make you want to try it out, but for now, there’s no release date. You can add it to your Steam wishlist to stay informed about future updates.

The Talos Principle 2: Road to Elysium

The sequel to the award-winning puzzle game developed by Croteam will receive its first DLC on Friday, June 14. Road to Elysium takes place after the events of The Talos Principle 2 and presents a narrative in three parts that further deepens the game’s story. Each of the three new sections offers different challenges and features, further expanding the game’s possibilities, accompanied as always by breathtaking landscapes and a narrative that deserves high praise.

Anger Foot

Anger Foot is a colorful first-person shooter for single players developed by Free Lives (the creators of Broforce). It features a high-energy soundtrack and frenetic gameplay. Your objective is to fend off hordes of anthropomorphic enemies using a vast arsenal of firearms as well as your equally vast collection of footwear, each with its own unique abilities. Run, kick, and repeat in this challenging action game that promises plenty of replayability (and some frustrations, too). You can already try its demo on Steam. For now, neither the release date nor the price has been confirmed.

Possessor(s)

This title is a side-scrolling action-adventure game with a beautiful art style that combines 3D environments with hand-drawn and animated characters, creating a charming aesthetic. It’s being developed by the indie studio Heart Machine, creators of Hyper Light and Solar Ash, which inspires confidence in the project. The price and release date have not yet been confirmed, and for now, it’s only expected to launch on Steam, although it’s highly likely it will come to other platforms later on.
