Last week, Nintendo presented the first Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase of the year, showcasing several releases coming to Nintendo Switch throughout this year. We’ve prepared a summary of the most important announcements from the event.
Grounded
This brilliant multiplayer survival title developed by Obsidian Entertainment will welcome a large number of new players with its arrival on Nintendo Switch on April 16. After the broadcast, Obsidian uploaded the announcement trailer to their official channel, letting us know that this launch isn’t limited to Nintendo’s console, as the game will also arrive on PS4 and PS5 on the same day. For now, these releases will only be in digital format.
Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection
The classic multiplayer shooter based on the Star Wars universe is more alive than ever—not only does it have an active and solid player community, but it will also debut on Nintendo’s platform. Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection compiles the first and second installments of the saga, adding 4 new maps and 2 new heroes. This collection will also release on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PC via Steam on March 14.
South Park: Snow Day!
The most obscene and entertaining show on television is back in the world of video games. South Park: Snow Day! was announced during the most recent THQ Nordic showcase, and the Nintendo Direct gave us another preview. This time, the game moves away from turn-based RPG mechanics and opts for a 3D cooperative action game for up to 4 players simultaneously. Laughter is guaranteed with this new installment, though we’ll have to wait until March 26 to see if the gameplay meets expectations. The title will arrive on PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC via the Microsoft Store. Unfortunately, it won’t release on the legendary Okama Gamesphere.
Contra: Operation Galuga
Konami is attempting to revive its most classic sagas, and this isn’t limited to Silent Hill. Fans of the run-and-gun genre are celebrating the return of Contra, with the brilliant developers at WayForward handling the project, which is a guarantee of quality. Contra: Operative Galuga will arrive on all current platforms, including Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PS4, PS5, and PC via Steam, launching on March 12. For those who want to try before buying, a demo is already available.

During the latest official Xbox podcast, the company’s CEO, Phil Spencer, discussed the new direction adopted by Xbox, which involves releasing its exclusive games on other platforms. Pentiment has become the first exclusive title from Xbox Game Studios to land on Nintendo Switch, doing so on the very same day the event took place.
